Today offers a rare chance to see a wide range of the work of the very talented and innovative designer Followmeimthe Piedpiper (better know to her friends and customers as Piper or Pip)

Pip’s creations range from beautiful small scale lamps and clocks to fully sized and beautiful steam engines, Brough motorcycles, landau carriages and on the bridges and houses. She was one of the very first designers to create ballrooms with reflective floors – and to pioneer a host of other styles too.

Many of her creations reflect a vision of a by-gone England – not only what many think of as historical England (with Palladian mansions and the elegant Wilton bridge)  but also a more recent Britain – familiar through films like Brief Encounter and the Ealing comedies, with canal boats and working barges, steam trains and streets of themed houses.

As you can imagine, all this makes it a little hard to see all her work collected in one place!

Now, however, she’s been offered the chance to hold an exhibition of her work. She’s been invited by Gillian Carthage and Paddy Wright of the Fermi/Little Blue sandboxes to hold an exhibition of her work there.

There will be three main displays around the two regions, with differing themes.

  • One will be a small townscape set in England of around the early ’50’s .
  • One will be a celebration of the Palladian style
  • One will be a display of her trains with an unusual setting!

Other smaller items might be on show dotted around the sims. And you’ll be able to travel around both sims on Pip’s new Rapid Transport cable car that she has just installed there.

But, if you can’t get there to see it immediately … here’s a jigsaw while you wait!
