Each month in Prim Perfect, we share with readers a beautiful landscape region (or sim, to give it the special SL term) that we have discovered. In August’s issue, this is Tol Eressea, a sim that takes its inspiration from the writings of JRR Tolkien but one which, like Tolkien, draws on the well of English myth and literature.
Moodyloner Korobase explores Tol Eressea in the Summer edition of Prim Perfect, and reports back on its beauties – and one of the most startling facts of all:
“In my explorations, I discovered that most of this alluring, haunting sim was build with straight, simple prims. There are very few scripts and no poses. The next time someone tells you that for your light use sim you need to be up on the latest building techniques and newest prim styles, take them to Tol Eressea, and show them that care, craft, and attention to detail will make a stunning sim just as well.”
There are forest paths to wander, and a small village complete with a rustic inn (we feel sure that Tolkien would have approved). You can climb to the snowy peaks of the island and explore the lookout there; you can watch the white ships sailing. Or, lower down, you can discover the Mirror of Galadriel or find the treehouses of the elves, or else find their instruments, ready to play.
Alternatively, you can find your copy of Issue 3 of Prim Perfect and curl up to read a full description, complete with beautiful photographs. And, in addition, you’ll then be able to read about Arcana Nuevo, arguably the most beautiful house in Second Life, or about our competition castle, or decide to take part in our Treasure Hunt, or try our fun quiz …
There really is a lot to read about and to do in Issue 3 of Prim Perfect!
Good catch! Great design, great feel.
Tol Eressea also stars as one of the locations in my music machinima “Poor Boy” I released a couple of weeks ago -> http://www.sonicviz.com/music/members/6/video.php?p=1
