Once again there’s a Treasure Hunt in this month’s edition of Prim Perfect. There are thirteen stores taking part this month – and this month you have to visit the store to discover the prim count of each of the pieces featured in the magazine. You’ll find instructions on how to find the prim count for an item on our Treasure Hunt Information page.
Today’s clue is from the Mission Home Store: Arts and Crafts Furniture, Troy Vogel’s store. I must say that I was delighted that when I was interviewed recently by the New York Times and the Daily Telegraph, both made a point of asking for photographs of the Odaesan House, the glorious home that Troy designed for Zeug Thalheimer.
And if you take a close look at Troy’s furniture, you can see why it’s making an impression in the real world too.
Troy is the most amazingly meticulous of craftsman. If you need proof, let’s just look at one of his pieces. Let’s take his lighting. You’ll find an example in the Odaesan House – in the formal banqueting room.
But it’s only when you examine it really closely that you can see the level of detail that has gone into the creation ofeven the smallest details, such as the careful geometrical placing of the green and brown squares on the shades, or the precision patterning of the vertical lines.
When you study detailing like this, the wonder is not that the Odaesan House took six months to complete. The wonder is that it didn’t take longer!
But to complete the Treasure Hunt, what you are looking for is not lights but a desk at the Mission Home Store: Arts and Crafts Furniture. And then, of course, other pieces of furniture by other designers too.
What you have to do is to find as many prim counts as you can, and send the details to primperfect@gmail.com, including your avatar name and an answer to the tiebreak question (which you’ll find in the magazine on Page 28). The person to find the most prim counts will win – and in the event of a tie, we will use the tie-breaker.
Also: – you don’t necessarily have to find every prim count to win a prize! Just find as many as you can – by August 31st.
