What can I read about in Prim Perfect? Home of the Month

Well, in addition to the Treasure Hunt, which we’re giving regular clues for here, there are a wealth of fascinating articles, gorgeous illustrations and helpful hints in this month’s Prim Perfect.

Castle Twilight This month’s Home of the Month is a fabulous castle, designed by Fornicola Butuzova (whose work we featured here on the blog, when we discussed her fabulous Edward Hopper inspired apartment). Castle Twilight is very different from that – but such a beautiful creation that we had difficulty believing it was her first castle!

This month, Prim Perfect features an interview with Fornicola, (one of three with different designers, in fact), discussing her work for her company Prefabulous, in association with her partner Amo Lambeau. And they range from the magnificent Gothic castle to what looked to me like a row of beach-huts when I visited Prefabulous – to my English eyes very Southwold – but very Cape Cod to Americans (the rest of you will have to work out your own cultural references – but I bet we’re some way from Bondi Beach here). But when I said this to Fornicola, she laughed.

beach huts for tinies She and Amo were approached by some very sad tinies – rabbits – who couldn’t find anywhere suitable to live.

“What could we do?” she said to me. “No-one can refuse sad, tiny bunnies!”

So she and Amo spent an afternoon creating these very cute cottages. Amo did the basic build, while Fornicola did the texturing and added what she called the Cape Cod touches. And even if you are not a no-longer sad bunny, I think you’ll find the result charming!

You can read more about Fornicola in this month’s Prim Perfect – and you can also read more about Castle Twilight.

Castle Twilight - with garden The bare, austere frontage didn’t stay for long, for example. Using the most fabulous range of vividly coloured sculptie trees, the owner of Castle Twilight, HintOfHerBlood Mercier and his partner Ima Peccable, have created a magnificent wilderness on their doorstep, leading you towards the castle itself.

Fornicola Butozova, the designer says, “In my mind a castle has a working gate that hides whatever dark things might be behind it.” And here it hides many unexpected beauties too.

I’m not going to describe the ground floor in any detail – it’s all in the magazine. I’m not even going to tell you about the superb use of furniture (largely by Sky Everett and Baron Grayson) or the magnifiecent staircase that draws you to the upper floor.

You can read all about that in this month’s magazine, after all.

And, in fact, I’m not really going to tell you much about the upper floor either, despite the fact that it is a wonderful piece of design on all levels.

Don’t just look at the thumbnail; click on it and see the larger picture – or click here … and join me in a quiet, but heartfelt, “Wow.”

If you read the full article in this month’s magazine, you’ll see further pictures, and learn how Hint and Ima found the perfect home for their magnificent Baron Grayson organ – and also learn of their future plans for this magnificent home.

All this … and prizes too!
