From time to time, we here at Prim Perfect hear about events that are taking place in Second Life to support various good causes, and, when we can, we will always give them a boost. Like this one – an art event in support of the Ali Forney Center in New York.
As many as 25% of out gay teens are rejected by their families, and many end up homeless on the streets. Homeless LGBT teens are more likely than straight homeless teens to be subjected to violence on the streets, and in the homeless shelter system. They suffer from inordinate rates of mental illness, trauma, HIV infection and substance abuse. Furthermore, an amazing percentage of homeless teens are gay, with estimates ranging between 20% and 40%.
The Ali Forney Center (AFC) was started in June of 2002 in response to the lack of safe shelter for LGBT youth in New York City.
On Sunday Sept 30, 1-4PM SL time, there will be a benefit event for the Ali Forney Center. During the event, digital homoerotic art by Fabiano Fabris will be offered for sale, and ALL proceeds from art sales will be donated to the center. Alternate methods of donating will also be available.
