Oh You Pretty Things! Part 1

sculptie flowersA couple of pretty things have come across my radar lately, and I thought I’d share.

The first I saw on a visit to Shiny Things, the famed store for shoes, when I explored the sim a little more and discovered Fallingwater Flowers, a range of remarkable sculptie blooms.

These are fantasy flowers, just as the sculptie trees behind seemed to me to be more fantasy trees. Although, in a way, the trees reminded me of water colour paintings with the beautiful loose swirls of vegetation rather than attempting to depict realistic leaves. I love the realism (and beauty) of the work of garden designers who do successfully make such attempts, but I like to think that Second Life has room for a very different aesthetic too.

And some of the trees are very low priim – there were some that were only seven prims. Not a huge outlay for what could be a breathtaking effect.

One thing is huge though – and that’s the size of the flowers themselves. One of the things I like most in Second Life is that I’ve been able to acquire the inches that I lack in real life but here, at Fallingwater Flowers, as you can see, I was dwarfed by single blooms. So for the sweet romantic gesture, hopeful lovers may want to look elsewhere – but if you really want to be fantastically extravagant – well, here looks like a very good place to start!

One further thing to add – the flowers come with a colour change system, so that if your orchid is touched with exactly the wrong shade of pink, you can shift it to the perfect blue at your leisure – and without needing to dig in iron filings around the roots!
