Although, to be honest, you won’t see any difference (except that the new version may come with hover text.
In fact, what has happened is that we have purchased a new server with new capabilities, and Arthur Fermi, the creator of our old server and our vendor, has customised the vendor to work with the new server. So it’s the familiar style, but a new engine driving this.
What does this mean?
Well, the new server has two great advantages. Firstly, it allows us to keep more accurate track of inworld sales – which is a great advantage to us, letting us see where we make the best sales, and where we could be doing more.
BUT it will also allow YOU to place vendors yourselves.
In the past, if a store or a public location wanted a vendor, Saffia visited and rezzed the vendor in person. She couldn’t give it to the store owner; it remained her property, and if it accidentally was deleted, she had to come and replace it. As you can imagine, this was quite time-consuming!
Now you can just ask for a vendor and place it yourself, at your leisure. It will even be copy enabled so that you can place as many as you like.
All we would ask is that you send you a slurl of where you locate it so that we can keep up-to-date records and point people in the direction of our vendors.
Gradually, we want to replace all our old vendors. The new ones will look exactly the same, (thanks to Arthur Fermi) but will have a new server driving them.
