March Treasure Hunt – Clue 8:Sweetbay Designs

Once again there’s a Treasure Hunt in the current edition of Prim Perfect. There are FOURTEEN stores taking part this month – and you have to visit the store to discover the prim count of each of the pieces featured in the magazine. You’ll find instructions on how to find the prim count for an item on our Treasure Hunt Information page.

Next we travel to Sweetbay Designs on Sweetbay to find a Midland 3-plank Wagon. Pip (followmeimthe Piedpiper) has filled the wagon with bright spring flowers from Kvinta’s Garden Centre , but it could be filled with anything you wish. The textures on the steel carriage and wooden side planks are great. The wood is weathered and knotty and the steel has rusted and stained in some spots. There are a 5-panel wagon and a coal wagon also available for purchase. The designs are based on wagons from 1913 used by the Midland Railway, the best railway according to Pip.

The February Treasure Hunt clues gave us a sneak preview of traditional English narrowboats available at Sweetbay Designs. Since then, Pip has expanded the canal and rail line. Stop by the toll house to read the notice of tolls to be paid. Be sure to pay what is due! Farther up the canal is a lock, and it is now operational. The lock is usually full and water leaks out where the gates meet. There is a crank on the lock that lets the water drain and the narrowboat slowly lowers within the lock. Then the large wooden gates can be pushed open. Eventually the lock fills up and the boat floats back to the higher level. It’s wonderful to watch, but don’t forget there are still more places to visit on the Treasure Hunt!

For the treasure hunt competition, find as many prim counts as you can for the magazine’s treasure hunt items, and send the details to primperfect@gmail.com, including your avatar name and an answer to the tiebreaker question (which you’ll find in the magazine on Page 72). The person to find the most prim counts will win – and in the event of a tie, we will use the tie-breaker. Also – you don’t necessarily have to find every prim count to win a prize! Just find as many as you can. You have until April 20th, 2008, to send in your entry.
