Prim Perfect and Meta Makeover were delighted to be asked to contribute to the Second Life Fifth Birthday Celebrations!
We wished to salute those who design and create for the Second Life world, and we were very fortunate to be given a large enough plot that we were able to create what we feel is a really exciting display …
Courtyard
Outside in the courtyard at the front, you will find a large scale copy of the latest issue of Prim Perfect. You can touch the pages to turn them, and see all the wonderful articles we have this month for your pleasure. Then you can take your own copy from the vendor
There’s also a wishing fountain. Just touch the flowing water, and you’ll receive a coin. Make a wish, and touch it again to drop it into the pool below.
In addition, there are items on display from the designers who appear in this month’s magazine. You can see (and try out) a seating arrangement from Maxwell Graf of Rustica … and two sculptures from Gwen Carillon. The leaves of DeVine make an unusual seating arrangement too!
And here too you may find a TARDIS, allowing you entrance to the EthericTravelling Cabinet – featured in this month’s magazine.
Prim Perfect Building
As you go through the main entrance, you will see a Prim Perfect subscribe-o-matic, where you can touch to subscribe and receive news as well as copies of the latest issue delivered directly to you!
Inside the Prim Perfect Hall, you will find all the issues of Prim Perfect, arranged in chronological order around the walls. Most of them have a sample of work from the designer of that particular month – and the display panels on either side show images from that magazine. More than that – if you click on the magazine, you’ll get a notecard about that particular issue and a link to the pdf version!
And do look out for the free gifts that some of the designers are offering too! Some are plainly visible – while others may be hidden among the display.
At the rear of the hall is a re-creation of a build in the ninth issue of the magazine, the Orkney fisherman’s cottage. Feel free to explore this in detail – and the details are wonderful – even down to the names of the books on the shelves!
Courtyard Cafe and Garden
Outside, you will find our courtyard cafe. Here you can rest for a while, and click on the bar to get either a mug of Pim Perfect coffee, or, if you prefer, something stronger. Or you can try out one of the dances from Maar Auer of Metaversal Arts. We promise that you will adore the Chaleston!
There’s also a TV in the courtyard where you can watch an episode of Meta Makeover, the programme that Prim Perfect Publications produces for SLCN. If you start to watch and then decide to stop, just turn off your media stream.
From the courtyard cafe, you can slip through the inviting gate in the wall to an outside area wher you can see Gwen Carillon’s lovely sculpture, Rebirth (recently winner of Best in Second Life at The Tech). It’s an interactive piece, and you’ll find instructions on how to dance in the sculpture.
Beyond that is a little dock where, if you’re a Seven Seas fishing game fan, you can try and catch those elusive Ultra Rare Fish. If you don’t have the necessary equipment, there’s a landmark to take you to 7 Seas headquarters so you can buy a rod for yourself.
Meta Makeover
On the other side of the courtyard cafe is the Meta Makeover Hall. Once again, there are displays arranged around the walls. This time, you can see slides from the various episodes of the programme – click through them to see the before and after transformations! Above each slide projector is a box giving you a link to the particular programme on the web (of course, you can also download them from the iTunes store too.
You’ll also find display panels showing the work of the different designers involved in Meta makeover – with landmarks to their stores.
At the rear of the building is another build, this time the build created by Salome Strangelove of Facade Furnishings. This was her lovely London house building that used a mere 120 prims (and there are less in this reconstruction!). The feel was swinging sixties – and the occupier’s favourite colour was pink; her request was for a place she could relax … and hang out with her friends. Explore both floors – and see the results for yourself!
Also at the rear is a small televsion lounge, created by The Loft, where you can watch an episode of Meta Makeover.
