We invite you to:
Emelia Caerndow’s Visitant ~ A Haunting Tale

The courtyard at the castle on Caer Blanco
The courtyard at the castle on Caer Blanco

On a far, dark sim, shrouded in fog and deep rolling canyons, just beyond mysterious ruins, a dark Victorian Castle rises … seemingly abandoned, but teeming with quiet, ghostly life. Truly one of its kind, this converted old Monastery is home to wandering souls and ancient stories to set your hair on end.

And, for one month it will be home to the best designers in SL to showcase their remarkable All Hallow’s Eve creations.  Our Grand Opening will be Oct. 15 and will be showcased on both the Meta Makeover cable program Oct 21st and the October Issue of Prim Perfect Magazine. But this is more than just a location.  For the entire three weeks, there will be a variety of events ranging from live music shows to ghostly story-tellings, to spectacular firework displays (we’ll definitely have a Bonfire Night party on November 5th for all the Brits!), all designed to raise money for Partners for Others.

This unique event will offer a number of design sponsors the opportunity to create the best haunted house ever!  Each sponsor will bid on an area of the castle and all proceeds from this activity will be donated to  Partners For Others.

Please join our group “Emelia Caerndow’s Visitant” for ongoing updates

Why are we doing this?
In 2006, Partners For Others, owners of Better World in Second Life, partnered with SOLID to bring a bit of Lesotho to the virtual world.   They raised awareness with a beautiful exhibit for Gardens of Hope.  This project linked five communites in Lesotho through the construction and maintenance of tree nurseries, gardens and greenhouses.   Prim Perfect was proud to be part of the Gardens of Hope project as it assisted in the production of tree, vegetable, medicinal herb and fruit seedlings and crops.Last New Year, we collaborated with Radio Riel and The Gaiety Theatre iin Penzance to raise funds through a spectaular celebration called Many Midnights.  From this event alone, we were able to raise the money to create a sustainable maket garden for eleven women and their dependants (a total of thirty-three people), devastated by the effects of AIDS on their community. We are thrilled to announce that these projects have been successful and have reached the point of being self-sustaining.  We can’t thank the community of Second Life enough for their generous support of Gardens of Hope. Now we are looking to support the new project, through your generous gifts.

Recently a small clinic has been established at Phelisanong.   This clinic is housed in a tiny rondeval which has an army cot for examinations, a small locking cupboard and a desk and table for the nursing assistant.  There is a great need for basic medical supplies and equipment.  Since our visit we have learned that the community around Phelisanong has begun to rely on the clinic thus putting an additional strain on their already meager resources.  Partners for Others will be shipping a container of donated medical equipment and furnishings for the clinic and school in early 2009.   We are working on raising the funding for a new clinic building that will give patients some privacy and enable waiting patients to be inside rather than out in the weather.  The money we raise here in Second Life will help this project to go forwards.

For three weeks, the Castle will be a centre of exciting Halloween and ghostly events, a unique opportunity to have your wares spotlighted by and visited.  Backing the Project are Prim Perfect, Meta Makeover and SLCN – who have agreed to show a machinima of the project between programmes.  Other SLCN shows are eager to become involved too.

All we need now is YOU to create a ghostly castle <cough>store</cough> like no-one has seen before in Second Life!  At the moment the bare structure is in place, with castle, cemetery and ruins.  But we need you to come in, take it and make it the most stunning Halloween experience that Second Life offers.

The bidding will run from Sept 30 12:01 AM – Oct 8, 11:59PM SL time. At that time Sponsor winners will be announced on the blog, by group announcement and notecard.  Winning sponsors will then have until October 14th to set up their area, in time for our Grand Opening and media coverage on October 15th.  All sponsor decorations need to be up until Nov. 10th when everything must be taken down or returned.

NB – we will happily accept shared bids for areas.  We will also accept non-furniture bids for areas (if someone wanted to sell Halloween clothing for example) PROVIDING the buyer agreed to decorate their area in an appropriately Halloween way.

Silent Auction
We are also holding a silent auction for items during the event, Oct 26 – Oct 31 Midnight SL Time.  Please consider donating a few items from your store to benefit this great group.  Your donated items will be on display during the event with proceeds continuing to move us towards our project goals.  Included with your donation, please include a notecard description of the item as well as an LM to your store. All proceeds going to Partners For Others. If you wish to donate to this event, please contact Erasmus or Rascal Blanco.

INSTANT SPONSORSHIPS
Sponsor a cemetery headstone for $1000 per headstone (first come, first serve), limited to 20 headstones engraved with your logo, LM and notecard giver. You may also choose to load a free gift into your headstone as a great way to celebrate this season of giving. Only one headstone per sponsor, so get them quick, these are going to go fast.

This is a fantastic way to support the effort, generate positive publicity and generate advertising traffic to your store over this entire event duration.  The money you spend here brings you returns and interest great than a simple classified ad and involves you in an exciting and vibrant project that will have a real impact.
This event brought to you by a partnership of :
BLANCO CREATIVE, PRIM PERFECT MAGAZINE, META MAKEOVER, REACH ISLES, and GREEN and WILD.

Thank you very much to our partners and team.
