Samhain Ceremony and Celebration in Caer Blanco

Join Eva Bellambi as she hosts a Samhain Celebration in Caer Blanco on Astrologic Samhain, November 6, 2008.

Oidhche Shamhna as Samhain is known in Scots Gælic is one of the principal festivals of the Celtic calendar.  It represents the final harvest and the beginning of winter.  Traditionally, Samhain was time to take stock of the herds and grain supplies, and decide which animals would need to be slaughtered in order for the people and livestock to survive the winter. This custom is still observed by many who farm and raise livestock.  Bonfires played a large part in the festivities celebrated down through the last several centuries, and up through the present day in some rural areas of the Celtic nations and the diaspora.

We will celebrate a brief ceremony together in the old traditions, and then dance around the fire to celtic musical selections provided by Gabrielle Riel.

All this will raise funds for a small medical clinic in Lesotho, Southern Africa, through the charity Partners for Others.
