Did you know that a group of extremely enterprising avatars has created a replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in Second Life?
And did you know that in 2008 the Theatre’s members produced five major, live theatrical events?
Or that the group also supports an ongoing art exhibition, reproductions of other architecture from Shakespeare’s lifetime, literary and music events, and I don’t know what all else?
Unfortunately, your time to find out about all these things is running out.
Despite all its performances and fundraising efforts so far, the SL Shakespeare Company finds itself unable to keep up with tier for the 4 sims that their projects are based on. Therefore, they have taken the decision that if they cannot raise six months’ worth of tier by 21 January 2009, they will have to give up their sims and their projects.
Their goal: L$1,510,000.
Yes, it’s a lot of money. Yes, I think they can do it – if you help!

And if you know anybody in the Grants department of some arts-sponsoring organisation … maybe drop a good word for these folks?
