Linden Lab’s Winterfaire 2008 is a “Grand Tour,” organized through the Showcase’s “Hot Spots” category. Here’s the first of several samples of the available locations to visit:
Wintermute
“A poem inside a mystery wrapped in a metaphor”, according to the Showcase text. “Don’t miss the hidden treasures.” I can’t tell you much more than that, as I can’t read the parcel’s covenant – except that it really is quite lovely, mysterious, and poetical. (It does not, so far as I can tell, have anything with the Wintermute character in Neuromancer, but the name might be a reference to the game design software.)
Don’t miss the little poems on the bird-cage lanterns, or the sea-level house and nearby cetaceans, the Spanish mission-style chapel or the secret garden … and be sure to turn on the background music to complete the dreamlike appeal of this sim.
