StormEye is a SL/RL crossover exhibition in conjunction between Ars Virtua Gallery in Second Life and the CAA (College Art Association)’s 97th Annual Conference in Los Angeles. StormEye is a collaboration of the artists Douglas Story and Desdemona Enfield.

StormEye is an immersive art installation with the theme of an all encompassing storm, the centerpiece of which is composed of approximately 1000 primitive objects which are coated in moving video accompanied by a densely layered sound effects bed.

In a conversation with Douglas, he explained that their inspiration for the piece was “Storm from the idea of co-opting the beauty and power of Nature, and intensifying it by bringing it indoors – in a box, if you will.”

Douglas further went on to say ” I live in Southern California now, where we hardly ever get lightning…so for me it’s hearkening back to my Wisconsin childhood”.

The video in the center of the piece runs about five minutes in total. Be sure to take a free umbrella, follow the instructions at the beginning for the best aural and visual experience, and come step into the eye of the Storm!

StormEye opens Saturday, February 21st at 1 pm SLT above The Aho Museum on the New Media Consortium campus, NMC Campus West sim. Ballroom dancing with dj Naydee McGettigan follows from 2-4 pm SLT.
