StormEye Artist Interview

The creators of the new install StormEye, Douglas Story and Desdemona Enfield, were good enough to talk a bit about themselves and their work.

Desdemona:
I have been around in secondlife for three years.. I started scripting early on by analyzing the motion of sun, which used to be very interesting and complex before Windlight was integrated. I created a conference center for an educations group that is now merged into others.and started working with artists on their large scale projects.

We have done Flowerball, Dynafleur, and now this…plus a few other projects for other people: Urban Spectre for example. We are business partners in sense. He has good expertise on visual effects.. I can provide scripting to make them happen. We have been working together now for 2 years.

Douglas:
Des has been involved in every art project I’ve done in SL but I have been a video editor and writer/producer for television promos for many years before SL

I asked the pair what someone should take away from the StormEye experience.

Douglas:
“…a sense of another place and a disorientation relating to sense of scale. I wanted the walk in through the tube to vaguely unsettling. I feel like I am in a summer storm when I sit in there.”

Desdemona:

“The sinuations of the tunnel evolve (for me) the sense of being in a tornado. Well, there is imo no heavy meaning here.. the SE is intended for enjoyment. A visual treat. It recalls a summer experience…but that is just the technicians viewpoint.”

It’s clear that the two have an excellent rapport and working relationship, and we here at Prim Perfect look forward to their future collaborations. And we urge you to go and experience StormEye for yourself!

StormEye opens Saturday, February 21st at 1 pm SLT above The Aho Museum on the New Media Consortium campus, NMC Campus West sim. Ballroom dancing with dj Naydee McGettigan follows from 2-4 pm SLT.
