On Saturday 18th July from 11.30am, Treet TV personalities – including Elrik Merlin and Saffia Widdershins from Designing Worlds, hosted a range of special events from the Relay for Life in SL, including the Silent Auction with Pooky Amsterdam of the First Question and the Giant Snail Races with the inimitable RacerX Gullwing. Benton Wunderlich of Music Acandemy Live joined Saffia in our special studio (created for Treet TV by Dellybean North of True North Designs, and landscaped by Anhayla Lycia of Treesong Designs.
Saffia Widdershins was the producer of producer of the RFL Telethon 2009 and said, “We were very excited and privileged to be part of this tremendous event. So many of us all around the world are affected by this terrible disease, and being able to come together in the unique way that Second Life allows is an opportunity for us to put the power of virtual world television to serve the cause of helping to eliminate cancer for once and all.”
“Many people in SL want to support the fight against cancer through Relay For Life but are concerned about lag, their computers handling the lag and maybe even intimidated by the sheer numbers anticipated to be on the sims. Treet TV will allow those people to participate, to learn, to become aware. Treet TV will increase our reach and SAVE LIVES”, said Fayandria Foley, Relay for Life of Second Life Event Chair.
The Telethon was broadcast on the Treet TV Live Channel while a range of Relay for Life related shows played in rotation on the Treet TV Community Channel
