Press Release and Photographs from West of Ireland (WOI):
The Second Life charity estate West of Ireland (WOI) brings a new twist to their fundraising activities in Second Life (SL) benefiting the real world charity Project Children. Thanks to the generosity of Conjunctio Magic, six Romany-style caravans will be auctioned off with the proceeds augmenting funds raised by WOI’s regular monthly events.
“Conjunctio” refers to the alchemical term for the union of opposites, the sacred marriage. Conjunctio is a creative group which was established in March of 2008 by Cracker Taggart and Jays Munro with “Conjunction Magic” being the group’s identifying avatar. The group is the basis for a range of creative works beyond the creation of custom caravans and vargos, as a visit to The Magic World of Conjunctio on Sandvik reveals.

Each caravan is uniquely styled with pain-staking attention to detail. While “Romany-style” may conjure up specific decorative elements, Conjunctio’s caravans are all very distinct, reflecting an old-world feeling through a diverse a range of visual styles. “We love the idea of the Romany life in SL and plan to continue to make custom texture caravans to order’” said Magic in a brief interview. “We are always creating alternative interiors, and out new French-style “roulotte” will come with a variety of texture-changing cushions and bedding.” The styles are whimsical, vibrant, and evocative.
The caravans will go on display on Bundoran Reef in the WOI estate on Friday morning, August 7 at 5:00 am SLT. Bidding will open at that time and continue through the weekend, closing at 7:00pm SLT on Sunday, August 9. A special Romany-themed Dance will take place in The Glen at WOI on Friday night from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. DJ and Live music events are planned throughout the weekend at Nancy’s Pub in WOI which is directly adjacent to the area where the caravans and auction boards will be located.
“We are delighted to donate these caravans to raise money for Project Children,“ concluded Conjunctio on behalf of the group.

The Caravan Auction and the Summer Festival (planned for the last weekend in August) will add to the month’s proceeds from regular events in the estate. All performers at WOI – DJs, Live Music, Storytelling, etc. – all volunteer their time and talents and do not accept tips. Guests and friends are encouraged to show their appreciation for performances and events by contributing through the one of the Project Children donation bins found through out the estate. The estate regularly sends an average of $400-$600 U.S. to the charity.

Project Children is an international organization that takes children from Northern Ireland on summer trips to stay with host families in the United States. Catholic and Protestant children are brought together in a calm and multi-cultural environment in an effort to overcome the stronghold of prejudices that have burdened Northern Ireland for so long. The South Texas Celtic Music Association (STCMA) raises funds for Project Children at its annual Celtic Music Festival and through the Second Life West of Ireland charity estate to pay the transportation costs for children participating in Project Children.
