Join us at 2.00pm SLT on Tuesday 9th March in our studio in Northpoint for our show this week as we explore a very rich and unusual place when we go to Shekawahti.
Based on the region of Shekhawati (the Garden of Shekha) in Rajasthan in India, the designer – Veekay Navarathna – has created a truly original area, and a fascinating glimpse into an aspect of Indian culture.

Shekhawati is sometimes known as “the open art gallery of Rajasthan” as it has the largest concentration of frescos in the world. That is because the buildings of Shekhawati are decoreated with rich, beautful and complex frescos painted on their outer – as well as inner – walls. This alone would make Shekhawati a stunning place to visit – but in addition, Veekay has brought together a collection of traditional and modern Indian art unparalleled in Second Life.

Because as well as the commercial and residential areas – and a beautiful ampitheatre, guarded by elephants! – Shekawahti is also home to a vast art gallery containing many examples of traditionald modern art, much of which can be purchased in world, and Veekay offers fascinating insights into the history of art in India, as well as Indian culture and customs.

The show starts at 2pm SLT, but you should be in our Northpoint studios by 1.30pm to make sure of getting a seat. Or you can watch on the Treet live stream. And there will be gifts from Shekhawati for all those who attend in person!
