Welcome to our May issue—our Third Anniversary issue!
Yes, we launched Prim Perfect on May 1st 2007 with a party and a charity auction in Venice Island, one of the many areas of Second Life that has, sadly, since disappeared.
But that’s certainly not true of our Region of the Month for this issue, which, under the carefully stewardship of Kiff Clutterbuck and Richardina Petty, has gone from strength to strength in providing one of the best and most popular blues locations in Second Life—Junkyard Blues. Ceejay Writer has a feature on the region, and as always learns the story of the Junkyard from Kiff and Dina themselves, while Raven Haalan finds his groove in the music of the Junkyard. And for those wishing to visit, Jvstin Tomorrow provides his guide of ten places to see in the Junkyard! Scotti Lyle explores an intriguing aspect of the Junkyard—the process of gentrification that sees not only waterside shacks, but also a trailer park and even pretty two storey houseboats. Because… how downmarket do people want to go?

We explore these two sides of the Junkyard by having two designers this month—Claudia13 Rossini who has furnished a stylish, two-storey houseboat, and n0th1ng Ackland who has created the perfect grimy shack on the waterfront. We look at these two contrasting homes—both generously set for auction to raise money for autism by Kiff and Dina with the support of the designers.

And there’s more… for Viv Trafalgar reveals our two Victorian librarians (Sir JJ Drinkwater and Miss Kghia Ghirardi) have mysteriously landed in Junkyard Blues and promptly start a lively discussion on the influence of the blues on literature, while Kaye Robbiani, in her gardening column, investigates what might be called weeds… but which she shows might more properly be termed ‘wild herbs’.

For many designers of homes and gardens within Second Life, this month has, above all, been the time for the Third Annual Home, Garden and Patio Expo for Relay for Life®, and we were there in force—not only with our own pavilion, but with the launch of our new Pathfinder programme. You can find out who the new Pathfinders are and all about their first mentoring session, with Jeremey Ryan (Qwis Greenwood has written a profile of him, too, as well as mentoring and writing about the whole programme). Jeremey told the Pathfinders all the things to bear in mind when displaying at an event like the Expo. And there’s also an article about the Expo itself—and the awesome things that we found there.
Our landscape of the month is the stunningly lovely Empress and Hierophant—a recreation of a rural Irish environment (with touches of Wales, too). Tricia Aferdita has been to explore this sim… and she had some surprising encounters—with rather unusual sheep.

And we continue with our Linden Homes programme. Rowan Derryth met LaDonna Upshawe of Sweet Romance Furniture and saw how she had created a beautiful environment for art in her Linden Home… and also explored the designer behind the home too! And our Reader’s Home of the Month belongs to our photographer, Twisted Lemon, who was so inspired by the home that Colleen Desmoulins of The Loft created for me last month that she went out, secured her own Linden Home, and furnished it beautifully.

We also have an article on an initiative to raise money for multiple sclerosis in the Avalon art community—and see how that community has become involved in organising regular fund-raising events. And there’s news, too, about Relay for Life.

Qwis Greenwood has some fascinating advice for newbies who don’t want to wear a conventional avatar. And even if we’re not looking to become a robot or a dragon ourselves, her advice on how to create a default appearance folder is invaluable!
Spruce Up Your Space is a new and rapidly growing initiative to bring the work of top designers within the reach of everyone by adopting fun monthly themes for items to be sold at bargain prices. They tell us about their plans for May.
Then there’s all the latest from the Designing Worlds show, while our team of talented photographers bring you some of the most romantic and artistic eye candy in Second Life!
All this with News from the Grid and more!
We hope that you enjoy this Third Birthday Issue!

If you prefer to read the magazine online but not inworld, there are choices. Firstly, there’s the wonderful Calaméo system, which allows you to moves smoothly through the pages, giving you the feeling of reading a real magazine. You’ll find Issue 25 here – and please do leave a comment!

But, if you like to download your magazines to read as you commute to work, or in the bath, or wherever, you can also obtain a standard pdf for downloading and printing.

For a short time, it will be available through XStreet (just search on the site for Prim Perfect). This will deliver you a copy in the form of a Thinc book that you can rez and read inworld. However, we will shortly be closing our XStreet Store and moving to another internet based provider, as we are not prepared, for a magazine that is free at point of delivery, to pay the listing charge being asked of us by Linden Lab.
We also have subscribe-o-matic kiosks throughout Second Life (these are taking over from our older vendors) – so you can just click to subscribe. You’ll be sent a copy of the latest issue, and then you’ll receive your issues regularly!
Another inworld option is to buy from our inworld vendors (located at various stores). Sometimes we have had problems with these, but you can help! If you see a vendor still selling an earlier issue, contact primperfect@gmail.com, and we’ll send someone to update it.
Or you can have it delivered to you each month as a Thinc Book, by joining the Prim Perfect Readers group inworld. It costs nothing to join and, apart from delivering the magazine each month, we won’t overload you with chat or messages!
