Presented by the RFL Survivor/Caregiver Committee, the annual RFL Art Auction was kicked off on Sunday, May 30th at 12:00pm SLT. Held on ACS Island, the auction runs all week and features works from more than 4 dozen SL Artists. The auction, which has previously raised over L$300,000 for cancer research, will run through Sunday, June 6th at 12:00pm, celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day.

Featured prominently among the art on exhibit, and available for bidding, are works by Artistic “Fimi” Fimicoloud, a beloved SL Artist who lost her battle with cancer in early 2008. Before her death, she gave permission for her work to continue to be used to benefit ACS, and her art lives on through ACS and the support of people who loved her.

The auction site is an incredible display of works, from paintings and drawings to scripted and sculpted creations. Artists from across SL, and across the world, have generously donated their work, sometimes several pieces, and all proceeds go directly to the RFL of SL General Fund, and the fight against cancer.

To bid on the silent auction, the bidder pays the auction prim in front of the art. While the process does attempt to notify bidders by IM if they are outbid, the committee recommends that people check back frequently to make sure they have not been outbid. Bidders receive a detailed notecard when they make a bid.

At the end of the silent auction, select pieces will be sold at a live auction starting at 12:00pm on June 6th on the beach at ACS Island. The selected works do allow proxy bidding and bidders can receive information on how to make a proxy bid by clicking the informational notecard located near each piece.
