Designing Worlds explores Story Quest – and learn about Vision Quest

In this episode, we took a special Story Quest with Marty Snowpaw and Jenaia Morane, the devisers of the project, to learn about the life and times of Uncle D.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This is a exploration of a life affected by HIV/AID which uses a non-linear narrative to encourage us not just to explore and investigate the story but also to reflect on Uncle D and the disease itself – and you have a chance to become part of the story yourself.

As you will see, we travelled through the Quest ourselves with Marty and Jenaia, but not we were careful not to expose all its secrets – those you will have to come and explore for yourselves.

During the show, we talked to them about other projects, such as the poetry quest and their new venture – www.startledcat.com. And now news comes of an exciting new quest:

Virtual Storytellers Launch Visionary Quest
What does it mean to see? Anyone who is blind or visually impaired will tell you there are many ways to see. Eyesight is just one of them. Nevertheless, without sight a person lives with extraordinary challenges.

Launched in conjunction with the Helen Keller Day celebrations in Second Life, the 2010 Vision Quest, “Adventures in Vision” was created by Jenaia Morane and Marty Snowpaw from Startled Cat Studio. The Quest asks participants to immerse themselves in the life of a woman who lost her sight, and explore what it is like to function in SL as someone who is blind. Questers will also meet a canine with attitude who has strong opinions about the humans in his life and is not shy about sharing them. The Quest will culminate on Helene Keller Day (June 19) with readings from contributions made by participants and a discussion about telling stories in virtual space.
