Happy Birthday to Second Life!
Last month we celebrated our first Birthday - this month we're celebrating Second Life's Fifth Birthday - and Prim Perfect (along with Meta Makeover) will be part of the celebrations!
We were delighted to be asked to contribute to the Second Life Fifth Birthday celebrations – and honoured to be given a large slot where we have built two exhibition halls: one celebrating the issues of Prim Perfect, and the designers involved, and the other saluting the designers who have taken part in Meta Makeover, our SLCN home makeover show.
We are still frantically adding exhibits at the moment – but we hope to have a variety of things to see and explore, including two reconstructions: one of the Orkney fishing/teleworker’s cottage featured in Issue 9 of *Prim Perfect* (designed by Kittie Munro), and the other the swinging sixties house (designed by Salome Strangelove) which appeared on Meta Makeover’s London show.
There will also be displays of all the issues and episodes and, in the Prim Perfect building, small displays of the work of the designers who were featured in the magazine each month. And there’s a wishing fountain and a café where you can drink a cup of coffee (or something stronger) and relax, or dance the Charleston instead (a wonderful new dance created by Maar Auer of Metaversal Arts).
The buildings were created by Jeremey Ryan, based on the design of our new headquarters, assisted by Dellybean North, and we think we have a really terrific exhibition for you to come and see! Many of the team are planning to be around the build as much as they can, so do drop by and say hello to us!
New magazine from Prim Perfect!
Prim Perfect will be a year old in May. During the last ten months, we've grown from 0 to 10,000 readers, and we've launched a TV show - Meta Makeover.
Now we're ready for our next big venture - a new magazine!
In collaboration with the Connolly Telegraph, we will shortly be launching a wholly new magazine with a very special twist.
This is one catering for the large number of people in Second Life who are interested and involved in the steampunk and historical recreation sims covering a period between 1740 and 1920 (that is, roughly speaking, the period covered by sims from Versailles to New Toulouse). It will be centred on the Independent State of Caledon, but it is hoped that all the other period sims will become involved and play a part too.
It will draw on the existing strengths of its partner founders; the news gathering skills and content experience of the Telegraph, and the design, production and features writing of Prim Perfect.
Prim Perfect launches its own TV programme - Meta Makeover - on SLCN!
We are proud to announce a brand new series for SLCN (the Second Life Cable Network) - Meta
Makeover. The whole Prim Perfect team have been working hard on this,
and you now have a chance to see and share in the work we’ve been doing.
Meta Makeover is filmed before a live audience at the SLCN studios in Northpoint on Sundays 12pm (i.e. noon) SL time, every other week. If you would like to be part of that audience, all you have to do is tp into Northpoint between half eleven and twelve and take a seat in the studio - which will be signposted.
A schedule of shows is available on our new Meta Makeover website and posted to the Meta Makeover blog.
You can also get the latest on Meta Makeover by subscribing to our Subscribe-a-Matic list. Kiosks are available at the Northpoint Studio and at our Venice offices.
Whether you are setting up your very first home, hungry for the latest must-haves, or customising the mansion of your dreams, Prim Perfect has something for you. For those who are prim addicts, there are articles on high-end high class designer furniture too.
And for land agents, builders, landscapers and designers, Prim Perfect offers a way for you to reach your clients directly. Our advertising rates are, you will find, very reasonable.
In addition, we offer a special section for designers. Here you will find links to some of the best designers in Second Life, in terms of sheer quality of product - but also in terms of value for money ... and value for prim!
