Yes, it’s the day of our Charity Auction on Tuscany Island, and I’m going to be talking here about the castle that is the centre of the auction.
You can read here about how to bid, and here about who the money raised is destined for.
Earlier I told you something about the ground floor of the castle. But, indeed, there are just as many treasures to see once you start climbing the stairs ..
At the top of this post, for example, is part of the broad corridor that runs around the upper storey. To me it’s a lovely fusion of the old and ne, with tradition saddle chairs, and the impressive wrought iron of the bannisters, to say nothing of Rossetti‘s painting of Jane Morris above. But the light airiness of the whole has a very clean modern feel, even as you pass from here and into the room designed by Ally Geer of Elegance in Design by Ally, our third designer.
This is probably the most traditional room of all. A Red Room (although it certainly doesn’t look threatening enough to be the one where the hapless young Jane Eyre was confined at the start of that novel!).
Ally has achieved some interesting sweeps of curtain over the windows, and her vibrantly warm rich colouring is picked up even in the pictures she’s chosen to display. Not just a bedroom, this room doubles as a sitting room too, with a cosy fireplace – the ideal place to accommodate a guest to your castle!
etween here and the master bedroom, there is a shared bathroom, and this really is one of the triumphs of the castle – and a real delight from Dellybean North of True North Design.
Delly has really created a bathroom fit for a Tuscan castle here, picking up on the ancient history of the Estruscans with a really stunning mosaic on the floor, while the warm colour of the tiles echoes the terracotta, the cooked earth that one associates with Tuscany.
But that’s not to say her bathroom lacks the modern amenities – a peek at this picture will show you that all the modern conveniences are definitely in position, with not only a shower but a loo concealed with an elegantly modern tiled area.
One moves on from Delly’s beautiful bathroom to a superbe master bedroom, designed by Xylo Hasp of Xylo, and through from there to a private sitting room also designed by Xylo – in a rich shade of blue that contrasts beautifully with the flamboyant red off the room on the other side of the castle.
But this is not the last of the treats the castle holds. A short teleport upwards … and you are in a beautiful roof garden, designed by Anhayla Lycia of Treesong Designs, with a wonderful fountain at its centre, and beautiful cascades all around the perimeter, giving you an unparalleled view over Tuscany. And viewed in one direction, you get a pretty spectacular perspective on the nearby Venice Island sim, too!
And very soon now, it could be yours!
