September Treasure Hunt: Clue 14 – Marie Curie Branch Library

Sky Everett's fireplace in the Marie Curie Branch Library Once again there’s a Treasure Hunt in this month’s edition of Prim Perfect. There are TWENTY stores taking part this month – and you have to visit the store to discover the prim count of each of the pieces featured in the magazine. You’ll find instructions on how to find the prim count for an item on our Treasure Hunt Information page.

Today’s clue is a slightly different one from usual, as, instead of being for a store, it’s for a library – the Marie Curie Branch Library in Caledon Mayfair.

The library is a beautiful building created by CoyoteAngel Dimsum and it really is worth checking out the interior. Her textures evoke exactly the right tone of Victorian England in Caledon Mayfair – formal with a fascination for the exotic. The overall affect is that of a friendly, neighbourhood library in an elegant Victorian sim.

Marie Curie Branch Library exteriorWorking in the library is Kghia Gherardi, who wrote the lovely article about The Villages at Pemberley for this blog recently. She chose the fireplace as the clue for the Treasure Hunt because, as she says, it adds warmth to the library, and she wanted the Library to feel like “someplace where a person could spend a toasty afternoon curled up with a book”.

Like most of the pieces in the library, the fireplace was designed by Sky Everett of L’Utopie whose elegant style was felt to match perfectly with the aims and aspirations of this lovely building.

See more information about the Caledon libraries at the end of this article – but for now, let’s focus on the Treasure Hunt!

For the competition, what you have to do is to find as many prim counts as you can, and send the details to primperfect@gmail.com, including your avatar name and an answer to the tiebreak question (which you’ll find in the magazine on Page 28). The person to find the most prim counts will win – and in the event of a tie, we will use the tie-breaker.

Also: – you don’t necessarily have to find every prim count to win a prize! Just find as many as you can – by October 15th.

The Libraries of Caledon
JJ Drinkwater, Director

The Library serves the Independent State of Caledon. We maintain a collection of books and research materials for the use of residents and other interested parties. We also host exhibits, book discussions, lectures, and the occasional donnybrook.

Marie Curie Branch Library interiorThe collecting policies of the Caledon Library have two main foci: the 19th century and Caledon’s defining literary genres, Steampunk and Alternate History.

Within these areas, we collect, first of all, primary source material: 19th-century novels, nonfiction works, and periodicals, along with materials from earlier eras considered important in the 19th century; and of course defining works in Steampunk and its parent genres. Second, we collect research materials concerning the world of the 19th century and its imagination, and secondary materials useful for studying Caledon’s important genres.

The following are the Caledon Libraries:

  • The Jack and Elaine Whitehorn Memorial Library , Caledon VictoriaCity
  • The Caledon Library Reading Room in Caledon VictoriaCity
  • The Vannevar Bush Reading Garden, Caledon prime.
  • The Marie Curie Memorial Branch Library, Caledon Mayfair

A Caledon Library is a Branch of the Alexandrian Free Library and is supported by the House of Wu.

  1. Thank you for the lovely comments, but I need to make it clear that my only contribution was the architecture, construction, and the pink marble texture. The other textures on the building itself are from Textures R Us or the GNUbie Store in Indigo! I wish that I had the talent to create the textures, but at least I can take credit for selecting and applying them! 🙂
