Russian Empire

One of the beautiful things about Second Life is the diversity. While you can walk down a simulation of New York City, you can visit other places in the world, other times and other places. What’s more, these creations are not solely the product of North Americans or even English speakers. Second Life is a diverse place.

Today, November 11th is Armistice Day, and Saffia has mentioned that there are remembrances today in SL. And yet, the diversity of Second Life means that there are other places, and other celebrations of others things going on at the same time.

All of this comes together in the Russian Empire Sim.

Today the Russian Empire Sim is having a Red Revolution Party. They have decked out their sim with icons and builds from the Revolution and its years afterwards.

So, I decided to look around a bit before the party gets started. Indeed, one doesn’t have to have political sympathies anywhere near socialism to appreciate the artistry and effort put into the design. I particularly liked the reproductions of old Russian posters and photographs, although wandering around here (until the end of the month), one can find army vehicles, a statue of Lenin, a Russian chapel, and more.

Aficinados of this sort of style and design will find much of interest here. And I suspect its going to be one fun party. It starts at 11 am SLT (11 am PST)
