There’s always something happening in Caledon – as the Prim Perfect team are discovering as we put together our super exciting Christmas edition of Prim Perfect for you.
Yesterday, for example, was St Andrew’s Day and the most Caledonian -minded members of Caledon celebrated with a day of Highland Games (which, as they took place in deep snow, might have made even the hardiest of Scots blink) and a Ball.
The Ball was, alas, too late for me to catch, but I certainly enjoyed watching the games – which included both tossing the caber and throwing the hammer. Despite Caledon’s polite usages of Victorian ettiquette, it is agreeably egalitarian in many ways, and the women present were tossing and throwing with as much vim and, it must be said, as much success as the men.
All and all, it must be said, an excellent start to winter in Caledon.
(And if I am to keep up the style of Jennifer’s Diary for Caledon reports, I shall have to start noting names).
Although I missed both the Games and the Ball, I did manage a short time at the dance at the court of Kintyre, and took a few snapshots of the Caledonians (including your good self) in party mood:
