And it’s bigger and better than ever!
Last year for the first time, we introduced our Home and Garden Decorating Competition – and we were blown away by the standard of work you all produced! Not only that – the competition also raised the amazing sum of 137, 142 Lindens, a little over US$551.

So this year it will be back, bigger and better than ever with sixteen homes for our finalists to decorate! The houses will be sixteen different builds, ranging from a tree house to an Arabian villa to a cottage to a Japanese loft/townhouse. Full details will appear on this blog and you will, of course, be able to explore the full range at the Expo!

These homes and gardens will be decorated by sixteen finalists who will have a fixed number of prims (and impact) to decorate the Home and the surrounding Garden area. The finalists will be chosen by a raffle draw made by Nikki Mathieson, the Chair of Relay for Life, who will draw the names out of the equivalent of a Second Life hat (a random name generator script). The finalists will be each assigned one of the sixteen houses, based on their preferences. Competitors can work alone or in pairs or in a small team.

Each contestant (or team) can decorate in any style they wish that suits their house, but they MUST include AT LEAST THREE items purchased from RFL vendors at the Home and Garden Expo. People will vote for the final winner by donating to a kiosk set outside each of the houses. Each Linden donated to Relay for Life in these kiosks will count as a vote.

Timetable: March 15th – 18th – people apply for the competition, stating which house they would like to decorate. March 20th – March 28th – the competitors decorate their houses and gardens March 29th – 5th April – visitors to the Expo can vote on which house and garden they like best. April 6th – the winners will be announced at a special party!
