Back to Prairie School at the FLWVM

Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, built in SL by Miltone Marquette, is returning to the museum for a limited engagement.

It’s all a go at the Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Museum (FLWVM) just now!  This weekend kicks off the opening of the Prairie School Houses exhibit, which features the very exciting return of the Robie House replica designed by Miltone Marquette.  There will be a public reception on terrace at the Pope-Leighey House on Saturday the 11th from 4-5pm SLT.  Board Chair Ethan Westland will emcee, and Curator Gina Broono will give a short talk on Prairie style. All are invited to tour and explore.  This will be followed with a dance on the terrace with resident DJ Jaffee Gaffer from 5-7pm.

This exciting new exhibit officially opens this weekend.

The Robie, which is on short-term loan to the museum, will enable visitors to actually walk through and experience this style, which will be of critical importance to some: the next Build-Off competition is on the theme of the Prairie School Style.  The FLWVM build-offs are a very popular way for both amateur and season builders to test their skills by creating the most functional and appealing building within the parameters of the ideals of Frank Lloyd Wright – within 48 hours!

Prim Perfect is pleased to be among the sponsors for the Prairie School Build-off, which will take place the 25-26th of November.  However, there are a host of fun and educational activities leading up to it, including a public lecture on Saturday the 18th: “Prairie Style Architecture” by Curator Gina Broono in the FLWVM Amphitheatre.  Also that evening there will be a “Back to (Prairie) School” benefit dance at the Breeze with DJ Skott Westland.  Wear your best school uniform and come dance to the best from the 80s and 90s – and remember, now that the FLWVM is an official non-profit organization, all donations are fully tax deductible.

In addition to prizes from sponsors like the Builder’s Brewery, Build-off winners will have their builds on display at the museum sim. The deadline for entering the build-off is THIS MONDAY, Sept. 13th, and entry information can be found at the museum landing point.  Business owners can also be part of this popular event as sponsors (again, a tax-deductible contribution), for as little as a $1,000L contribution!  Deadline for sponsorships is Sept. 17th, please contact Jaffee Gaffer in world to learn more.

Don’t miss these wonderful events!
