Welcome to our Christmas issue of Prim Perfect – a time to celebrate homes and family and all the joy of winter … and you’ll find our magazine is packed with articles to celebrate families and holidays, as well as advice for decorating homes and gardens … and a very special Christmas photo story to enjoy too.
And that’s not all, as the inworld version of the magazine comes with Christmas goodies too!
Just look for the GIFT tab on various pages inside the magazines, and you will find gifts from Prim Perfect and from some of our advertisers too!
Families play a big part in this magazine.
Our region of the month is the Cozy Homes sims created by Paige Raven. Our reporter Suzanne Bisiani explored the region to admire the beautiful houses and furniture that Paige has created, and spoke with Paige herself – and met her family!
Another family provides our Readers’ Home for Christmas. We meet August and Honoria Paine-Lusch and their daughters July and Oracle, and explore their lovely home and learn all about their plans for Christmas celebrations in Ceejay Writer’s article.
Then enjoy our Christmas story about the adventures of our snow cat, lost in the wintry city … by Tricia Aferdita and PJ Trenton.
Will he find a family of his own?
For this special time of the year, Qwis Greenwood has taken a look at the churches of Second Life, while there’s also an account of ten seasonal sims to explore by Java Jetcity, and Ceejay Writer shows you how to create a Christmas garden. That garden will also benefit from Beq Janus’ advice on creating that snowy look with sculpties and clever textures.
In addition we have tips for your seasonal celebrations. Rowan Derryth tempts your virtual taste buds in her article on Holiday food and celebrations, while Jedburgh30 Dagger waxes nostalgic about special Christmas traditions in Second Life. And, of course, our favourite Victorian librarians have taken a seasonal perambulation in the snow to share their thoughts on wintry literature with our readers!
We asked Kaye Robbiani, in her capacity as the owner of the delightful Home Store rather than as one of our gardening correspondents, to choose and decorate a Linden Home for Christmas. You can see the results she achieved in the article by Tricia Aferdita – and Tricia also interviewed her to learn all about the designer behind the Home Store!
Our Pathfinders this month, under the mentorship of Qwis Greenwood, have been exploring ideas about providing goods for the holiday season, with advice from Shyayn Lusch, the owner of the stylish furniture store Shag.
This month’s Spruce Up Your Space, the new and rapidly growing initiative to bring the work of top designers within the reach of everyone by adopting fun monthly themes for items to be sold at bargain prices, are planning a family theme for Christmas – and Elle Kirshner also supplies news of a wonderful building competition run by Second Spaces, with the sponsorship of many well-known designers (and Prim Perfect too!). And there’s information on another competition, and also news of a busy month for the SL Homes and Gardens group, in our regular article by Jennaa Loire.
Annechen Lowey presents the first of a series of advice to newcomers on how to take gorgeous photos in Second Life with an article on creating and using lighting rigs for different effects.
Iggy O, our gridnaut, has been exploring the world of Jokaydia Grid; while in Charity News, I’ve been learning about the Breast Cancer Awareness Center in the Triborough New York region.
Then there’s all the latest from the Designing Worlds and Metaverse Arts shows on treet.tv, while our team of talented photographers, led by PJ Trenton, Twisted Lemon, GM Nikolaidis, Tricia Aferdita and Alaex Aeon bring you some of the most romantic and artistic eye candy from across the metaverse!
All this with News from the Grid and more!
So – we must say …
Seasons Greetings from Prim Perfect!
So how can I get Prim Perfect?
If you prefer to read the magazine online but not inworld, there are choices. Firstly, there’s the wonderful Calaméo system, which allows you to moves smoothly through the pages, giving you the feeling of reading a real magazine. You’ll find Issue 30 here – and please do leave a comment!
But, if you like to download your magazines to read as you commute to work, or in the bath, or wherever, you can also obtain a standard pdf for downloading and printing.
It is available through SL Marketplace (just search on the site for Prim Perfect). This will deliver you a copy in the form of an Intellibook that you can rez and read inworld.
We also have subscribe-o-matic kiosks throughout Second Life (these are taking over from our older vendors) – so you can just click to subscribe. You’ll be sent a copy of the latest issue, and then you’ll receive your issues regularly!
Another inworld option is to buy from our inworld vendors (located at various stores). Sometimes we have had problems with these, but you can help! If you see a vendor still selling an earlier issue, contact firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll send someone to update it.
Or you can have it delivered to you each month as an IntelliBook, by joining the Prim Perfect Readers group inworld. It costs nothing to join and, apart from delivering the magazine each month, we won’t overload you with chat or messages!
In addition to delivering the Intellibook version of the magazine, you’ll also get a link to the online Calaméo version of the magazine, so you’ll be able to access that too.
