As posted a short time ago, Fantasy Faire returns to SL this weekend promising a spectacular feast of all things fantasy.
Arguably one of the jewels in the crown for the event, is the return of Sextan Shepherd’s famous steampunk underwater world, “Nemo”. We are delighted to be able to present to you a sneak preview of what will be a most exciting aspect of the Faire.
The highly acclaimed, steampunk-themed, “Nemo Trilogy” – which consisted of three distinct regions that represented the natural elements water, earth and air – closed at the end of October 2010 following a stunning six month period which saw it featured by Linden Lab’s Destination guide and reviewed across the Second Life world and beyond. For those of us who miss the atmosphere and wonder of that place, or who missed it first time round, then a visit to Fantasy Faire will put a massive smile on your face. “Nemo Trilogy” creator Sextan Shepherd, with Mayah Parx, has recreated some of the best parts of that previous much-loved project in a special “Nemo Revisited” sim for the event which includes the wonderous Hall of Mirrors.
Shepherd’s Nemo sim is one of nine sims specially created for the Fantasy Faire. There are eight themed shopping sims, and a separate Events and Auctions sim which will border the American Cancer Society Island for the entire run of the Faire.
Started three years ago as a benefit for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, the Fantasy Faire of Second Life has raised more than $25,000 USD. For 2011 the goal of the Faire team, Friends Fighting Cancer, is to nearly double that amount by raising an additional $20,000 USD.
I will leave you, for now, with another special preview photo, this time from the Dark Mirage sim – a city of black magic with an Arabian nights feel. created (and sponsored) by Marcus Inkpen & Sharni Azalee.
The Fantasy Faire 2011 runs from April 2nd through the 10th.
