The latest episode of Designing Worlds – when we explore some of the Artist in Residence regions of the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) – is now on the web!
Artists in Residence at the LEA are holders of an LEA Land Grant. This is a six monthly program to distribute 20 regions (LEA10-LEA29) donated by Linden Lab. These regions are to be used to promote art and artistic endeavors in Second Life.
Full regions of virtual land are made available to in-world artists through an application process. The AiR Land Grants are held for six months, and artists are free to use that time to create, amend, develop and display their work. Application cycles are announced through various LEA channels – and we’re in the middle of an application process right now!
Go to http://lea-sl.org/form/lea-air-land-grant-application-round-fourteen to find out more (and if you would like to apply yourself).

Artists may be experienced and well-known in Second Life, or they could be new and exploring Second Life’s potential. On the show you’ll meet both artists who have held AiR grants before – and artists for whom this is their first AiR grant. And there’s a fascinating range of installations to seem, from The White Cliffs of Dover to a steampunk psychological mystery, from angular prim installations to an exploration of a project to promote world peace, from an examination of the avatar experience and narratives, to a visualisation of the experience of real life exile.
You can see the regions here:
