Once again, as SL16B gets underway, PrimPerfect is sponsoring a series of talks in the Auditorium, and offering an opportunity to meet a number of Lindens … and this year a couple of extras too!
If you have questions you’d like to ask, feel free to post them in the comments below – and if Saffia gets the opportunity, she will ask them. But make sure your questions are tagged for the right people – Patch will be happy to talk about the new Linden Homes, for example, but he can’t answer questions about Operations – that would be one for April and Oz.

You’ll have a chance to see Patch Linden on Monday. Patch is Senior Director, Product Operations, and works to bring the best of product and support based decisions on a daily operational basis to the virtual world platform for Second Life, while maintaining oversight on how all of the various teams within Linden Lab can best work together for the highest good of the Residents and the business. Most recently, this has been developing the new range of Linden Homes – the very popular houseboats and traditional homes and, of course, the exciting new release to be seen at SL16B for the very first time – the Campers and Trailers (and Patch has promised to explain the difference for Europeans like me!).

You’ll have a chance to hear about Engineering and Operations on Tuesday, when I’ll be talking to April and Oz Linden. April Linden is the Systems Engineering Manager for the Second Life Operations team – they are the team that handle the care and feeding of the computers that power Second Life. Oz is the Senior Director, Second Life Engineering, which means that he manages all of Second Life Engineering and Platform Operations. He’s done considerable work with residents, heading up the teams bringing in, over the years, and among many other developments, mesh, materials, Bento and mostly recently Animesh – which I’m sure he’ll be talking about! (We may also have a chat about last names and EEP!).

Right at the centre of the week of the week on Wednesday, I will be talking to Ebbe Linden, the CEO of Linden Lab.
There’s certainly a great deal to talk about with the recent changes in pricing structure, but we’ll also be discussing the future of Second Life and where Ebbe sees it going, including the role of residents.

Xiola is Lead Community Manager, and heads up community initiatives at Linden Lab – including this year’s Official Second Life 16th Birthday Music Fest, Inworld Shopping Extravaganza, and other Official Birthday events. Strawberry Linden joined Linden Lab as a Marketing Content Specialist in April of 2019, and is perhaps one of the most widely recognised resident Lindens in her Strawberry Singh persona. Her role at the Lab solely focuses on Second Life, and she strives to create tutorials and imagery that will resonate with not only new Residents, but also the current community, something that she has successfully done through her videos and blog for many years.
In addition to these four Linden talks, there will be two further talks:

This year, the industrious Moles of the Linden Department for Public Works have been incredibly busy! Not only have they built and organised much of the infrastructure of the Birthday, but they have also created the hugely popular new Linden Homes. Abnor and Naughty Mole will be joining Saffia on stage (and we’ll probably meet a few more Moles as well) who’ll be talking about their work and their role in the world of Second Life. Patch Linden will also be joining us on stage.
What many people don’t realise is that the Moles are all residents of Second Life, many of them extremely well known creators with their own stores. We won’t be removing any masks in our discussion, but we hope to show how creators could become part of this exciting program.

To start our series of Talks, we have Meet the Machinima Makers at 10am SLT today, Monday. I’ll be talking to Drax Despres and Luca.
Drax is well known for his machinima series, including the Worldmakers, Love Made in Second Life and Our Digital Selves, as well as his long-running podcast series, the Drax Files. You can see his YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/draxtordespres
Luca is a video artist and 3D modeler who grew up with Second Life, and she tries to promote the platform to people who might be interested in Second Life but don’t know about it yet through her videos. You can see her YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0zrazFd2Qx6iSODhr3tkqw?
