Join us today, Monday 15th November 2021 at 2pm SLT in our beautiful studio in Garden of Dreams as we journey way back into the past for an episode first shown in November 2011, when we explored Second Life Route 6, the High Mountain Road, and then took the ONSR Okemo Nakiska and Southern Railway train from Okemo Canyon to Wengen to explore the snowlands.
You can watch the episode on this blog, and you can also see it on the Designing Worlds Vimeo channel at https://vimeo.com/510918258 and you can join the special Watch Party at 2pm SLT in our studio on Garden of Dreams.
In this show we start by exploring Second Life Route 6, the High Mountain Road, in the company of Simple Wunderlich, as we ride from the end of the Great Wall of Second Life in Spini to Simple’s vertigo-inducing (and very lovely) Mountain Retreat in Plebeja – sadly no longer here.
If you want to explore this region for yourselves and you need a horse to ride, there’s a horse rezzing station near the start of this route, created by Prokovy Neva. And many thanks to Prok, who pointed me at this lovely trail in the first place!
Then we turn our attention to the railways and, in the Snowlands, take the train service from Okemo Canyon to Wengen on the ONSR Okemo Nakiska and Southern Railway. We find out a little about the railway and then, when we reach Wengen, we have a chance to explore the range of Winter sports created on public land by the Lindens. Wengen is very old now and – in some parts – badly broken – it can’t compare with the wonderful Winterland regions that the Moles create every year. But there is still a definite charm to the place.
All in all, there’s lots to see, and we think that many people may be surprised at what the mainland has to offer! So do come and join us at 2pm, or catch it on the web!
