Dealing with emergencies on Designing Worlds

Firefighters - and Commemoration
Firefighters – and Commemoration

Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 1st October, for the new episode of Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams as we pay a visit to the region of Aero Pines, where we will see Cindy Bolero and her amazing team of firefighters at work!

Aero Pines Park, as a region, has many of the features of a National Park (including a range of exciting leisure activities), but what we will be looking at in the show is the training for emergency services that is also a feature of the region, and exploring the ways in which Second Life and virtual worlds offers training potential for people working in hazardous situations.

We’ll be joined by Cindy and by one of her firefighting team captains, Fire Captain Chev Cale. We’ll also see how a team tackle a fire in a restaurant – a very practical demonstration of our discussion given by Incident Commander Joshua Hoch and Firefighters Bethlee Spad, Nicholas Hawthorne and DaltonProck.

We’ll also be looking at the stair climb that Cindy has created, which commemorates the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York, and which has become a place of commemoration of all the victims of that appalling day – and of all firefighters who have lost their lives in the course of their duties.

This is a fascinating show on the unusual potential of virtual worlds. So do come and join us at 2pm!

Or – if you can’t attend in person – tune in at 2pm SLT on Monday for the live show on http://treet.tv/live – where you can now chat with other audience members and even some of the participants during the show – or catch it later in the week on our shows page on the Treet.tv web site at http://treet.tv/shows/designingworlds – our very own version of the iPlayer!
