Designing Worlds explores Second Life’s Eighteenth Birthday Celebrations – Part 1

Today, Mon 19th July, Designing Worlds pays the first of two visits to the amazing regions regions that were created for Second Life’s Eighteenth Birthday Celebrations (better known as SL18B).

From 2pm today you can see the show on the Designing Worlds Vimeo channel at: Or you can join us for our Watch Party in the beautiful Designing Worlds studios in the Garden of Dreams!

Once upon a time the Birthday celebrations were organised by the Lindens; then responsibility passed to the community at large; and now, once again, the celebrations are managed by the Lindens. As a result, there are two kinds of builds at SL18B: “Linden Builds” and “Resident Builds”.

In this episode we take a look at the former. By and large, the “Linden Builds” (which include builds both by the Moles and by leading SL resident designers commissioned by the Lab) are represented by “public” areas such as the Auditorium, Main Stage, Tapestry of Time (which this year included a tribute to Linden Lab CEO Ebbe Linden who passed away recently), DJ Stage and Welcome Area – and they were quite spectacular.

In addition we visit the Hop ‘n’ Shop shopping regions, We also take a look at the preview region showing off the latest forthcoming varieties of Linden Homes (the longed for fantasy homes), and revisit an extract from one of Saffia’s “Meet the Lindens” talks, where she discussed the new Linden Homes with Patch Linden.

NB: the Meet the Linden talks were filmed by Strawberry Singh, and can be seen on the Second Life YouTube channel at:
