In this episode, Designing Worlds visited the One Billion Rising in Second Life event, which was held on February 14th. This was the tenth year of this 24 hour event of art, music, poetry and dance, which draws attention to to the campaign to end violence against women and girls.
Saffia is one of the organisers of the event, and she talks about the background of One Billion Rising. We also talk to some of the organisers: Briony Writer, who organised the music events (and built the corner parks); Cherryblonde Scribe and Meegan Danitz, who were the dance leads, Adele Ward, who was the Poetry lead; Jenny Anatine, who led the greeters; and AvaJean Westland, who designed and researched the Hall of Heroes (as well as the information kiosks). Saffia, who was the art lead, interviews Daark Gothly about her striking installation.
