Join us at 2pm SLT today, Monday 15th October for Designing Worlds at our studio in Garden of Dreams, for special show as we talk about original mesh, and designers discuss the process and challenges. With Eku Zhong of Culprit Furniture, Kaerri Rae of Kaerri, Isla Gealach of Cheeky Pea and Reven Rosca of Meshopotamia and AlsoKnownAs.
We’ll explore basic questions such as what is mesh and how is it different from the early forms of Second Life design – prims and sculpties. We’ll be talking about full perm mesh and mesh templates imported from third party sites – and how that can be abused. We’ll be looking at collaboration in the process of designing, and the art of “assemblage”, drawing elements from different – and legitimate – sources. We’ll be talking about why such a premium is placed on what is called “original mesh” – mesh produced exclusively for specific objects in Second Life.
And we’ll be asking our guests why such a premium is placed on “original mesh” when there is not the same pressure on textures or animations.
It all makes for a fascinating and very frank show – so do join us at 2pm SLT. Please note that due to a Second Life issue, we can no longer watch the show inworld – so we will watch it on a browser – but we’re expecting the inworld discussion to be interesting!
If you can’t attend in person – tune in to the web at 2pm SLT on Monday for a showing on SLartist – or catch it later in the week on the SLArtist.com channel – or on the Prim Perfect or Designing Worlds blogs.
