At 4pm SLT today, Friday 13th December, the Company of Faire Folk are invited to meet at Little Trollhaugen as a launching pad.
From there we will ride out (or walk) and explore Cerridwen’s Cauldron, the beautiful region created by Elicio Ember.
The Faire Folk will ride out again at the more Euro-friendly time of 2pm on Sunday 15th December.
Elicio began designing landscapes for Fantasy Faire back in the very early days, but his first major build was Exotic Worlds, back in 2011.
He recalls: “And it was intimidating. I had been building for little over a year, and Ember Farina contacted me to invite me to join. I was reticent to say the least. I saw the designer names and they all sounded huge and experienced to me. But she convinced me and though I was very intimidated by the scope of the event even back then, I felt welcomed and quickly became friends with the FF family. Many of them have been my friends since, and every year I meet people that quickly become dear to me.”
He was already well known for his beautiful plants and creations, which could be seen on his home region of Cerridwens Cauldron. An episode of the drama series The Blackened Mirror was largely filmed at the old Cerridwen’s Cauldron.

Elicio’s rare training as a botanist and as an artist allow him, he says, to create unique plants and fungi that are, nonetheless, botanically sound.
In 2012, he created the exotically beautiful Nu Orne, created round a ruined temple, half lost in the jungle.
The following year he created the magical Titans Hollow, vast globe of glass hanging among giant trees.
This revealed another of Elicio’s gifts – his ability to create amazing glass structures, something that is very apparent at Cerridwens Cauldron.
In 2014, he created the world of the Faery Court, where a giant tree formed the dividing mark between the light and dark fey. Amethyst Dovgal and Aisling Sinclair created a ballet that celebrated this.
This was followed in 2016 by OtherWorld, created to hold the Literary Festival, and closely related to his recent re-build of the Cauldron.

Elicio’s most recent world created for Fantasy Faire was the stunning Halls of Story.
Once again, this was created to host the Literary Festival and the great dragon the Fairchild – where Fantasy Faire holds its party events! One of the great sights of Fantasy Faire in 2018 was when a number of dragons came to dance around the Fayrechild.
We won’t be seeing the Faychild in our explorations – although the Company is advised to come prepared to wade through water (and explore underwater locations).
